Movie of the Day

People Will Talk

Cary Grant is certainly one of my favorites and I could watch this movie over and over again

Time Travel

How neat are these photos in NY from the 40's? For me, it's always fun to think how cities have changed over the years.

Life

Lately I've been enjoying the lookout point down the street, Goodwill, new food and a sunset

Sunset

Almost bought this at Goodwill...but I thought it might scare me every time I open the pantry

This building down the street reminds me of Tower of Terror at Disneyland

From the lookout point

White Horse Tavern

Fried gizzards...that's right. And yes, they were delicious!

Sun!

Today is something surely to celebrate...the sun has come out!!! I won't lie when I say I was beginning to go a tad bit crazy from not seeing the sun for quite some time. Weeks...and weeks. These are the days that help bring me back to sanity. I just need that one day of sun. Sadly, it's supposed to go back into hiding by tomorrow so trust me when I say I am thoroughly enjoying it while it's here. Seattle is such a beautiful city with or without sun and I'm certainly thankful to live here.

View from my balcony...iphones don't always take the best pictures. You can't really see the mountains in the background as well as if you were here. Danget!

Snack of the Day

Do you ever wander to the fridge and just hope there's something magical in there that will just appear out of thin air? Well, today I found just that. I have some leftover sauce that I made for pasta last night that I set aside for later this week and some sliced mushrooms and zucchini. I dipped the veggies directly in the sauce and it was delicious! Seriously the best snack ever and a nice surprise. I foresee myself eating the sauce throughout the week sans pasta. :)

Apartment Part 2

We have pretty much finished decorating the apartment with a few things here and there that we still need to buy such as a runner rug for the hallway and I need a new tiny nightstand because mine is too large. So for now it hides in the closet. But those can of course wait.

Living Room

It's hard to get good lighting in the kitchen so this is as good as it's gonna get

Each day little by little I am exploring the area and becoming acquainted with our neighborhood. On Monday I ventured out to do a bit of grocery shopping at Safeway in Rainier which is about a mile away. I was so relieved to find the store so close to home because I was spoiled to have Trader Joes literally right down the street at my old apartment. Today I went out to Target which is a little over 5 miles away in West Seattle and it was kind of neat to take the bridge that I can see from my apartment balcony.  I should invest in a pair of binoculars so I can see if there's traffic or not when I need to head that way :)
The decorating is coming along nicely. We finished the living room area and the kitchen. I can't wait to have it all done hopefully by this weekend. Vamos a ver! As predicted I am having a hard time with that dang bookcase. Whenever I place something in one spot it just never seems quite right. I know it will just come together naturally over time but I am just being hasty and want it perfect. Not gonna happen. Anyways...I'm off to finish an episode of The IT Crowd. My new favorite show!

Movie of the Day

Sense and Sensibility

Although I own this movie I have never watched the whole thing through. The past few days while working to set up the apartment I put on this movie and have spent 3 days trying to finish it. I kept having to rewind because I would pay more attention to working rather than the movie. But now I have officially finished it and of course love it.

Day 18

Olive finally getting some rest after a busy weekend

Apartment: Before

We are in our new apartment! It's been a long, sweaty, sore muscles kind of weekend. After two days of hard work we have unpacked everything...all is done except hanging up pictures and decorations. We have about one more load of odds and ends to pick up at the old apartment tonight and hopefully the last. My little Olive has been discontent with all the moving but today she seems relaxed and hopefully feeling more at home. My diet has completely consisted of pizza mostly and some delicious ramen at a place near our apartment. I can already tell we will be going back there frequently! Here are some pictures of the before and once we get all the decor up I'll show you the after. Ciao!

My little kitchen

A built in bookcase...hopefully we have enough stuff to fill it/The wall color looks much darker than it really is. It's actually a grey/very light blue.

Part of the living room/dining area

This light is definitely going!
I'll show you the bedrooms when they are all finished. Until then there is nothing really to look at.

Change

Welp, this is my last night here in this bedroom, in this apartment, here in the city of Everett. As far back as I can remember (since we've been up here that is) I couldn't wait to get out of here...out of this apartment complex and out of this city. Now that we are all packed up and ready to move I think I just might miss it a little. I will miss looking out my bedroom window every morning at the trees (and Petco a little past those lovely trees), I will miss Banfield right across the street (literally) and Trader Joes just down the street. It's true...living in the suburbs is SO convenient but I'm certain living in the city will be pretty wonderful. Change is always bittersweet and I am ready for this next chapter. I had hoped for no rain tomorrow on our moving day and I think I just might get my wish! We will see...this weather could go away by morning. You never know around here.

Day 17

Brie & Pistachios - Lunch of champions? Not sure but it's all I've got in the fridge so it will just have to do
