Tilapia Masala With Rice

So yesterday I decided to walk to Hobby Lobby and return some paints I purchased a few weeks ago. The location is roughly over a mile one way. I honestly thought it would take me like 15 min to walk there. Not the case. It took me half an hour in the blazing sun to get there. So once I got there all sweaty and gross I decided to browse around in the nice air-conditioned building and cool off. My browsing turned into an hour of looking down every single aisle and honestly I was dreading the walk back. So all in all I was gone for 2 hours. Great for exercise but boy was I beat when I got home. Because I had such a long walk I didn't want to ruin it with a fatty unhealthy dinner so I decided to make some fish with rice. It was so tasty I had to share! Here is the recipe:

I improvised a bit...trader joes doesn't carry fresh tilapia so I bought the frozen white ruffy fillets and we have a quinoa/rice mix that I used rather than plain white rice

Over the Weekend

We had such a lovely weekend! It was sunny and very warm...85 degrees all weekend! Such a nice treat. The only thing I don't like about warm weather is that I am sweaty trying to do my every day routine such as getting dressed, drying my hair and even just going from one room to another. Icky. But the evenings are to die for...I can be outside without a sweater. That hardly ever happens back home in Ventura. So anyways...we had a fun filled weekend outdoors. Saturday we went to Whidbey Island and landed in a little town called Coupeville then Sunday we went shooting and to a friend's house for an outdoor bbq filled with delicious food, wine, great company, bocce ball and s'mores!

On our way over!

Oh, hello little deer

Our view from lunch...cream&saffron mussels w/ some local whidbey island vino

Itsy bitsy wharf

Just hangin out...didn't even move a muscle when we came near

We stopped in Greenbank on our way back to the ferry to pick up a fresh berry pie

I thought I wanted to upgrade to the S&W .38 special...no thanks (thinking about the Taurus .38 instead or trade in for another .22)

Art Project

I can't believe it...sound the alarms...I have accomplished an art project. It's been ages since I've had fun with art but when I saw this idea on another blog I read I thought, by golly, this is something I could actually do. It's not expensive...even less for me since Brian has a ton of supplies just lying around. All you need is a canvas, tape , acrylic paint and a brush. This one is of Washington (hopefully people will be able to tell!)  and I plan to make one of California next and keep them next to each other on my wall.
