Visitors Pt. 3

I am so happy that my parents finally came up here to Washington for a visit!! I wish it wasn't such a short visit but hopefully next time will be a bit longer. Overall we had great weather (aka no rain) and sunshine. This morning I woke up early to take them back to the airport and spent the car ride back home sulking. But I know I will cheer up by tomorrow and busy myself with chores, cooking and a couple little projects I am going to try. (Sorry in advance for all the space needle pictures!)

Day 1:  my parents and I toured downtown Seattle and Pikes Market

Some CREEPY doll in an antique shop

Day 2: Parents wanted to go back to Seattle and hang out

Perfect day for the space needle

Mom thought it was hilarious

We always have to buy cheese curds down in pikes market

Day 3: Wine tasting in Woodinville & Tulalip Casino

Midweek Excitement

Yesterday (Tuesday) was a full day...and it won't end until Monday (it will be a sad day...my parents are leaving). Because I have my interview today I was on a rampage to find the perfect outfit. Lucky for me I was able to find a cute dress right across the street at TJ Maxx. I bought a few dresses to bring home then I took back the ones I didn't choose. Here's what I'm wearing:

I picked this dress because blue is always a soothing color, it will go with a ton of stuff and I love the sleeves and lacy look. So hopefully it will serve me well!
I was also able to meet up with my cousins last night for dinner. Aaron works for Boeing down in Long Beach but had to come up to this location for some meetings. They have a little boy Alexander (we call him Xander) and a little girl on the way. Last time I saw him was 1 year ago for Ian's graduation so now he is 3 years old, talking up a storm and is so stinking cute I could hardly stand it. We went to dinner at this place called Demitris in Edmonds. It overlooks the water, the ferry and there are trains that go by quite often which was the most exciting thing for Xander. It was a tapas style place so we tried several small dishes which is always fun. I will definitely be going back! The highlight at the end of the night was Xander choosing me to help him put on his pjs. More like wrangling him in like a wild animal and getting him to sit still so I could swiftly put him in that pj jumper.

He was surprised that the dessert wasn't all for him

Lewis-McChord Air Force Base

Yesterday I went to my very first air show. We were meeting Brian's cousins Dan and Leanne and two of their friends. Before we hit the road I was feeling kind of lazy and didn't really feel like driving for an hour but I am so glad we did. We got to see tons of planes on the ground as well as shows in the air. The last show we stayed for was a 90 year old man flying a plane from world war 2 and a young guy flying today's modern air force plane. I was thankful I happened to be wearing sunglasses because I cried a little! Yesterday for the first time in quite a while I really felt emotional and had tons of pride for our country. I would totally go again next year and look forward to it. (Another bonus was "fair food" and drinks!)

The boys inside one of the plane

A little hard to see...the 90 yr old and the young guy flying next to each other
Our view...a little rain and fog never stopped Washingtonians from doing anything

Dan explaining something technical that I will never understand

I loved this pin up girl on the plane!
