Sunday's Best

If we can dress up for special occasions, well why not our pets as well? I love these pet collars and ties because not only are they super cute but I am entertained as well. I think they are so silly but so cute at the same time. I just can't help myself! 

Cat Rules

I came across a picture that contained a list of cat rules. It is so funny and mirrors Olive's experience with us completely!!! The picture I took wasn't very good so I thought I would type it out. 

1. The cat is not allowed in the house

2. Okay, the cat is allowed in the house, but only in certain rooms

3. Alright, the cat is allowed in all rooms, but has to stay off the kitchen counters and off the furniture

4. Well, okay, the cat can get on the old furniture only

5. Fine, the cat is allowed on all furniture, but is not allowed to sleep on the "human" bed

6. Okay, the cat can sleep on the bed, but only curled at the end

7. The cat can find its own spot anywhere on the bed, as long as it stays off the human

8. Well, okay, the cat can sleep on the human, but only on certain parts

9. The cat can sleep on any human part, as long as the human can breathe

10. Sure, the human will move to the couch, curl up & purr contentedly 

When Olive showed up on our doorstep she must have known we would give her a very pampered and lavish retirement.

Tuesday Shmusday

Hello Everyone. I've been feeling quite boring yesterday and today but I thought I would write anyways. I am not the happiest to report that my meal Saturday night did not quite turn out how I had planned...but I guess that happens every once in a while. Brian had bought mussels from Costco so I decided to make a seafood pasta. Mussels are a cinch to make, however my sauce was a tad thicker than I wanted and needed something extra for flavor. Needless to say I was a bit disappointed to serve something I didn't fully enjoy myself. However, we shared great wine, great company and my Midnight Special dvd collection. So last night I cooked the rest of the mussels in a garlic butter sauce which was delicious. I'm pretty sure I could eat mussels every week. Yum! 

I didn't go to the gym yesterday (I was waaay to lazy yesterday) so I am going to spin class tonight. I've got to get my butt in gear!  

On a side note, here is a fun fact: Sir Pellinore, our frog, can only eat small crickets as of now. I brought home large crickets because Petsmart was out of the small ones only to find out the large ones will EAT Sir Pellinore because he is still pretty small. Yuck!!

Freitag

We made it to Friday! This week went by pretty fast actually. As promised I have been good about going to the gym this week. I have found that I really like the cycle classes. It's the best workout I have ever had since swim team back in high school. 

On another note, I haven't been able to eat anything this week without my stomach grumbling and being mad at me. I am hoping this will go away! Like now.  If you know me, you know how much I enjoy food. This is torture. 

Yesterday I applied for a volunteer position with Feeding America so I am hoping I will hear back soon and start the position. I have been wanting to volunteer for a long time now and I actually have the time. Pretty excited! 

I hope everyone has a great weekend!! I might come home with bangs tomorrow...we'll see.

Dinner Ideas?

So on Saturday evening we are having some friends over and I need to cook something...something really good. I love to cook and know I am not terrible, however the couple that are coming over cook really really well so I want to make something just as great. Not that I am feeling competitive or anything, I just want them to approve of my cooking skills I guess. I know, it's kind of silly. But I need some ideas or suggestions! Help me friends! :)

This morning I woke up with the song Jolene in my head by Dolly Parton so I had to listen to it first thing this morning. While listening to the song I wondered who else has done this song. I am not the biggest White Stripes fan but I enjoy this remake a lot.

Wednesday Already?

Just to start this post off, while typing out the title I felt like I spelled Wednesday wrong even though it wasn't. Every once in a while I will be writing/typing and certain words just don't look right even though they are correctly spelled. I feel like an idiot for one second, spell check it, then realize I am not an idiot and just having a special moment. :) 

Aaaanyways...I was excited to show off my new picture that Brian drew for me. I came across this picture online of a deer with his antlers as a tree. Now...not only was I just excited to have a new piece to hang on the walls, but Brian has NEVER recreated anyone else's work and I remember quite well him stating he never would. So when he came to me asking if I wanted him to make this piece I immediately said yes! I really love the color and that he used charcoal instead of paint for the deer. The Shins

I have been listening to The Shins a ton ever since I have been up here in Washington and this song will never grow old for me. I think it has something to do with the weather. Here is a version of Caring is Creepy that I really enjoy.

Swimsuit Season

Spring is here and there is only one thing that makes me go into a panic...the dreaded (at least for me!) swimsuit season. My goal this year is to actually buy a suit I actually love and feel completely comfortable in. For the record, this has never happened in my whole swimsuit buying career. I have been browsing suits online and have found a couple I have really liked, but I would be taking a risk not trying them on first. I suppose I can always return them. The suits I found on Etsy will actually let me give them my dimensions so that may be who I will end up going with. I would rather pay a few extra dollars, get a custom bathing suit and be happy with it for at least a few years. The ones on Etsy are a tad more affordable! Here are a few I saw.

La Conner

Saturday was a crazy/fun filled/beautiful spring day. Brian and I left the apartment in the early afternoon to meet our friends Kristy and Ryan to hang out. Google maps steered us wrong and took us to the wrong city which just happens to have the same street names and a  huge bridge. So while walking around trying to find them describing our surroundings and after about an hour of rigorous exercise and a local giving us incorrect directions (on purpose), we finally realized we were in two different cities. So we headed back to the car and made it to the RIGHT city.  I am so glad we made it...we got to see some of our best friends, meet their family and have a lovely time together.  

If many of you don't know, Brian is definitely the one with the green thumb around here. If left up to me I would be sans plants right now. After completing our little terrarium projects we both were inspired to put together our own indoor garden to grow some herbs and other fun things. So here are some pictures of Brian constructing the planters from Friday.

Friends and Sub Sandwiches

Today Brian and I got to meet some of our dearest friends Ryan and Kristy for lunch. Its SO nice to see some friends from home up here in Washington!!! Tomorrow hopefully we will be meeting them up in La Conner for the Tulip Festival. Fun weekend ahead! 

If Olive doesn’t think in French I will be greatly disappointed! I found this from another blog I like to read and stole it because I thought it was hilarious.

Spring Is In The Air

Anyone else in love with cute little dresses and shirts with collars? Well, I am! I found this playsuit on Topshop this morning. I used to hate pink when I was younger but now I find myself giving into my feminine side more and more as I get older. I love Topshop not only because they have adorable dresses and other clothes, but they also feature a whole section for us tall people. We don’t find that often. Take a gander around their website. Personal Goal

This morning started out sunny and beautiful but sadly turned cloudy with a little bit of sprinkles. When the weather turns stormy the last thing I want to do is leave the house! However, today I decided I need to reach my personal fitness goal and make it a habit to get to that stinkin’ gym. No more excuses. So now that it’s in writing it seems more official. I hope I can remain disciplined and stick to my guns!

Every morning I make breakfast for Brian and I so I wanted to find something quick, healthy and tasty. I came across this recipe on Pinterest so I thought I would give it a whirl. Just for the record…it was pretty dang good. (I tried the blueberry one without Chia seeds because, well, who has Chia seeds on hand??)

First Post

I decided to start my own blog mostly for two reasons: the first being that I have uprooted my life from Ventura where I have resided all my life to Washington state. I wanted to blog my new life and discoveries here.  My second reason is I have been introduced to blogs from my dear friend Sarah and ever since I have been addicted to reading various blogs, from fashion to cooking to tattoo blogs…three things I absolutely love. As much fun as I will have creating this blog I hope I’m not the only one. :) Benvenuto!!
